Just a quick update for those following along. We had almost all good news at our check-up this week, which was wonderful after a couple weeks of me worrying and imagining the worst. My blood pressure was looking good again, and my fluid levels went down from borderline high to normal. They are keeping me on half-days as a precaution but were pleased.
The only somewhat disconcerting news -- she clocked in at eight pounds. Exactly eight -- at 35 weeks and 4 days! Of the 20-22 I've gained, 8 is baby! As long as she's healthy, we can live with that. Thankfully the non-stress test went quickly and very well this time.
If nothing happens in 3 weeks, they may talk about inducing to keep her under 10 lbs. The good news though is that I'm already a bit dilated and was even having mild contractions in the office. The doctor thinks it's likely labor will start on its own before then. If not though, we might induce in early August. I'm not wild about Pitocin, but I think we'd do what doctor thinks best for a safe delivery.
That was enough to get me to pack the hospital bag! At this point, we are fairly ready. I had my last baby shower with some co-workers and sorority alums today, which was a lot of fun. We bought a camcorder last night. We have somewhere for the baby to lay her pretty little head, even if the crib and dresser are still AWOL. There are still some things to do, but we'll be ready enough if she decides to make her appearance before August!
